Army Medical History

The Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Centre (AFMIC) - also known as the National Centre for Medical Intelligence - is an agency under the Defence Intelligence Agency of the United States Department of Defence. The main concern of the AFMIC is to assess health issues that may affect the military as well as the civilians.

To view the complete history of the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence, visit the Army Medical History. The AFMIC was formally started in 1992, but the agency may have started earlier than that, because previous accounts says during the World War II, the AFMIC has been doing missions already.

The AFMIC studies the war zone - the area of the country the Military may be visiting - to check for anything that may hinder the health of the soldiers. This includes the sanitation of the area. The Armed Forces Medical Intelligence must also be aware of foreign diseases near the camp and the civilians in the area.

The AFMIC is situated at Fort Detrick Maryland. Fort Detrick used to be the main site for the biological weapons program of the United States. Also in Fort Detrick are other medical institutes and bio-defence agencies of the U.S.
